Ketiga bidang tugas ini adalah menetapkan dan melaksanakan kebijakan moneter, mengatur dan menjaga kelancaran sistem pembayaran, serta mengatur dan mengawasi perbankan di Indonesia. Ketiganya perlu diintegrasi agar tujuan mencapai dan memelihara kestabilan nilai rupiah dapat dicapai secara efektif dan efisien.
